Singing Ring®︎ Luli's Story

Colour

Blue has always been a fascinating colour to me since I was a child.

I have been trying to find out if I could make a bright blue Singing Ring ® in the development stage. However, in 2004, the development of lacquer coating was a challenge, so I gave up on the possibility to create a brilliant blue. In 2015, when the recognition of Singing Ring increased, the number of Urushi lacquer craftsmen increased.

Urushi lacquar

Since Urushi lacquer itself is brown sap, it is difficult to produce a beautiful colour. First of all, I tried to mix the lacquer with a crushed lapis lazuli pigment, but received mediocre results. Then, I came up with the idea to include a gold superalloy pigment to use as a tint for the coating to create a beautiful opal-like finish. Before the painting, a mottled pattern and acid was added to the surface of the golden Singing Ring. Furthermore, a pearl powder and lapis lazuli pigment was mixed into the lacquer to be baked and painted on. As a result, the combination of these techniques create an exquisite gradient that transitions from green to indigo.

When it comes to production, this order of creation takes a long time to perfect and achieve the best results. Therefore, there were many experiments and failures before the final design was reached. However, after many challenges, the craftsman's skills have been mastered.

108

Singing Ring Luli was released with a special version in 2019. We ended up creating 108 of these special sets where each Uchu and Daichi were given special markings and names. Due to temperature and humidity changes throughout the creation process, the appearance of each Singing Ring Luli are subtly different.

Only One

After the success of Singing Ring Luli, we asked the craftsman if it was possible to produce Luli again. At first, he was hesitant due to the difficulty of creating the instrument, however, he has now agreed to produce sales again as long the appropriate time is allocated when creating.

There is only one craftsman in the world who can create the Luli lacquer, therefore, manufacturing takes time.

Luli has a matte finish due to the mixture of the pearl powder, unlike the glossy Shikkoku.

Singing Ring Luli

I put it in a special carrying bag and enjoy playing it in many spaces.

In response to many requests, you can purchase it as a single item or you can have Shikkoku and Luli as a set.

I am full of joy and gratitude every day.

Let's play together to create a healthy future with a healing sound that resonates around the world with a smile.

With gratitude and a lot of love.
