    In comparison, Singing Ring creates multiple tones and the wavering is long. We can say that the “rich resonance lasts long”. From this research data, we can say that Singing Ring has a completely different musical characteristic compared to other musical instruments.

    Singing Ring

    The Society of Damping Technology (SDT) established the vibration research group, with members from Tokyo Institute of Technology, Shibaura Institute of Technology, Kogakuin University, Teikyo University, Tokyo Metropolitan Industrial Technology Research Institute, Singing Ring Association, Sion Inc. from March 2016. And has been researching and analyzing the unique resonance of Singing Ring. Groups. In 2016, a study was conducted to examine the differences in the sound and vibration characteristics of the Singing Ring compared to Tibetan bowls and crystal bowls, and the following findings were discovered:

    In this research, they used three different forms that has the same diameter of Singing Ring Daichi, and three different forms of elliptical, a combination of columnar and hemisphere, and columnar shape which are made to create the three sounds and tested to see what kind of multiples the three sounds configure. As a result, any of those forms “did not create integer multiple. This result shows that the three sounds creating the harmonious frequencies was not just a coincidence, but “the result of many elements combined such as the unique form of the Singing Ring, the balance of the thickness of the bowl material and other elements” and it concluded that “in order to create the same sound effect, the ”design factor is too complicated and unable to create it just by calculation”.

    They also used FEM for measurement to prove the sound resonance phenomenon (when you strike one bowl, the other bowl nearby starts ringing) and they have concluded that “it caused the sound resonance phenomenon”. When you strike one Singing Ring, another Singing Ring will start ringing without being struck.     Scientific analysis of the harmonic resonance

    A research data announcement conference has taken place at the Tokyo Metropolitan Industrial Technology Research Institute (HQ) on the 8th of December 2017 by SDT, Vibration and Sound Analysis Working Group. The announcement was done by Associate Professor Yoshio Kurosawa from Faculty of science and technology Department of Mechanical and Precision System at Teikyo University.

    In 2017, the research has taken place to find out more about the reason how and why the Singing Ring creates the long, wavering, and complex sounds. The research group measured the individual frequencies and compared the three different sounds that the Singing Ring make (the sound of 4, 6, and 8). As a result, they found out that the three sounds configure integer multiple. This is very outstanding and it’s a beautiful integer multiple that cannot be made by coincidence. This means that these three sounds’ wavering frequency don’t clash with one another and it can sustain the long resonance in a harmony. They also used a computer simulation system called “FEM” to identify whether the forms of the bowls are holding the secrets to why the three sounds of Singing Ring create beautiful integer multiple.

    They compared the Singing Ring before and after the coating to figure out whether the coating affected the sound or not. The result concluded that “the effect to the sound by urushi coating wasn’t detected.” Through this experiment, the result scientifically proves the effectiveness of applying the urushi coating for rust and degradation prevention.

    We experimented on 110 examinees including many Keio University students at Shinjuku Kagurazaka Salon in 2017. We learned that the stress value has decreased by 24.1% in average, and the calmness value has increased by 72.3% in average after the session. The latest science technology has proved that the sound of Singing Ring makes people calm and relaxed.

    It proves that sound of Singing Ring calms the mind.

    Keio University Professor Mitsukura who developed “Kansei Analyzer,” the world’s first device which enabled to measure the person’s emotion real time, in collaboration with Dentsu Science Jam after 15 years of experiments, measured the people’s brainwaves data after they listened to the sound of Singing Ring.

    In June 2018, an experiment was conducted using the "Kansei Analyzer" to measure the brain waves of 23 elderly people aged 60 or older. After analysing the result of the experiment aimed at 23 elderly people, when we look at the change in average value, 83% of the 23 people’s (19 people) stress had decreased and 78% of the people’s calmness had increased.

    In November 2021, we had a joint experiment with the Yunosato Aquaphotomics Lab and Professor Tsenkova Rumiana. 

    Twelve people underwent individual experiments and thirty-five people underwent group experiments.
    Aquaphotomics is a new scientific field proposed by Professor Tsenkova Rumiana of the Faculty of Agriculture at Kobe University since 2005. The method is used to measure the state of water in the body and to find out what is happening in the body.

    As a result of analysing the data of the subjects, it was found that due to the sound effect of Singing Ring, the water in the subject’s body began to be activated 3 minutes after the performance began and was greatly activated after 5 minutes.

    It was also confirmed that Singing Ring plays Harmonic overtones in just intonation.

    ll 21 people who had the EAV examination had a measurement close to 50 after listening to Singing Ring.This means that the use of Singing Ring helps correcting the meridians balance and energy balance and overall being in a healthier state. This is a surprising result. We confirmed that it was effective in all cases. We will keep on studying more cases in the future to prove the effectiveness of the Singing Ring.

    EAV (Electro Acupuncture according to Voll) is measuring equipment invented based on a theory of German doctor of medicine, Fritz Werner. By sending an imperceptible electrical current through a path and measuring current resistance levels, the equipment detects what part of the energy is disturbed. More than 20,000 units of EAV have been used around Germany and they are used actively in the medical field. We held an experiment using EAV to measure the effects of Singing Ring. We asked the examinees to cover their head with Singing Ring, listen to the sound for 3 minutes, and then we measured the EAV value of before and after.A healthy state is 50 to 65. If it’s higher than 65, there is a tendency of hyperfunction. If the measurement is lower than 50, there is a tendency of hypofunction.

    We measured the frequencies of the sound of the Singing Ring using Voice Analyzer.

    What's worthy of special mention here is that it distributes all the frequency equally. The Ministry of Education and Kyoto University co-researched and they have announced that the music from high to low frequency increases the blood flow of the hypothalamus and brainstem at the 4th International Conference on Neurology and Therapeutics. This suggests that the sound of Singing Ring that contains a wide range of frequencies could bring numerous potential effects such as possibly increasing the blood flow of the hypothalamus and brainstem.

    A quantitative evaluation on stress levels using the biomarker. The level of one of the adrenocortical hormones called cortisol, which is released due to stress, was measured from salivary amylase. More severely stressed cases showed larger effects on the decrease of cortisol levels, after listening to Singing Ring(R).

    The result suggested the possibility of Singing Ring(R) affecting the parasympathetic nervous system.
